Internets:: We've Got A Problem Here...

So, let's face it.  The internet has been a bit too much for me of late, and so I have been hiding.  There are so many social networks out there, and they all expect you do be posting all the time or else you drop off the radar.  I can't imagine that I can create "relationships" at all these places.  So I think that I will always be on Facebook and Twitter (sometimes... follow me btw!), and flickr, too.  But some of these places I might have to only check once in a while:: 29 Gifts, She Writes,  BlogHer, Cafe Mom.  And then there is ravelry, and etsy, and and...

You can see where this is going?  I think I would rather be making art right now, and doing this.  Oh, and the billions of other things.  Ah, now doesn't that feel better?  

Do you ever feel like it is endless, all these places to visit online?  All these things to "see"?

Lake Tahoe

We just returned from a little adventure in Lake Tahoe with some friends::

I was hoping (in some crazy way) to get a little knitting done at the beach.  But is was flat out too hot!  We adventured to Tahoe for the Markleeville Death Ride, which the husbands rode in::

We finished the trip off with a trip to Big Meadow on the Tahoe Rim Trail::

This meadow was perfect:: the hike up the mountain my three-year-old was able to do (maybe a mile and a half?), and the meadow was beautiful, with a spot to swim.  What could be more perfect!

Because I Cannot Wait To See This!

Sewing For My Little One

Well, I finally got around to sewing up some dresses for my little girl out of old smocked tops of mine from the maternity days {which have long since passed, thank you very much!}.  I took the tops, redid the main seam, redid the straps to fit her, and presto!  Four new summer dresses in fabrics I didn't want to just get rid of.  Don't you just love that?

Lady Diana and Me

Can I just say, that I love shooting with my Diana?  It totally rocks, and it is hard to get a shot that doesn't turn out cool.

My Yashica and I are on a little time out:: you see, the shutter only released once on the first roll I shot- I have to really pay attention to all the nitty-gritty with it, and figure it out.  Here is that one shot:

 

I got to say, I am digging the clarity & sharpness of the shot... now if it would just behave!

Ripping Back

I hate ripping back.

There, I said it.  When knitting, I'll do anything to avoid having to actually take something off the needles and pull that yarn back.  I am not the type of knitter that has to have everything perfect.  But when I discover that I have been doing something flat-out wrong every time I do it, well- then I have to resort to the big rip.

I am working on the February Lady Sweater, and I want to finish this one soon.  And luckily I discovered my mistakes so early on, that I didn't have to rip much back.  I think this time I will READ the directions.  Argh.

On a more pleasant note, my oldest little one graduated from preschool.

I cannot for the life of me figure out how she got this big.  She is my little girl!  I am amazed how for she has come in school, and I am such the proud mother hen!  I can't wait to see all that she can do in Kindergarten and beyond!  

Hello Summer? And a Summer Manifesto...

So summer, I am ready for you!  And it looks like today I might get a little visit: the sun is shining, the fog has receded, and the birds are singing.

So I am ready to hit the ground running.  On my summer manifesto list::

• Finish my February Lady Sweater that I had to re-cast-on last night for the smaller size- I heard it runs big.
• Solidify my concept for my art:: I have a vision, and I need to make it happen.  Problem is I am not sure I have enough wall space for it!  
• Go to the beach. 
• Sew my girl some dresses I started last year out of some old maternity tops. 
• Sew a dress or top from a Japanese sewing book I have.  This challenge might just take me all summer! 
• Go to the beach.
